M25 Bandit Memorial Run

Below are some details of this event on Sunday 16th September originally posted by Dan. I am going if I can get my Grand Prix repaired in time (waiting for parts from the U.S.). If not, I will go in my daily driver as I think it will be an awesome run and a great tribute to the late, great Burt Reynolds!
As you can see, they are starting at the Thurrock services just past the Dartford Crossing and stopping at other M25 services throughout the day (including Cobham near the A3), so there will be a few places to join if you don't fancy the whole trip or an early start.
If we chose Morrisons at Horndean as a meeting point, to be at Thurrock for 9, we would probably need to leave Morrisons at 7 ish. Anyone fancy it?

Quoted details below...
There is a Bandit run on the M25 next weekend. Their facebook link is:-

My Grand Prix is now repaired.. so I am going!! :clap2:

Meet tomorrow morning (Sunday 16th Sept) in Morrison's store Car Park Horndean to LEAVE there at 07:00. Cruise up the A3 then on to the M25 to head anti-clockwise (3rd Exit on A3/M25 roundabout). Cruise round to Thurrock Services just after the Dartford Tunnel for the first Bandit Run meeting point at 09:00-10:00. Then follow the convoy from there....

Really looking forward to this run. The good thing about it is that you can do as much or as little of it as as you want because there are a few stopping points at the M25 services along the way, the closest being at Cobham. There are also TWO tunnel runs for those leaving from Morrison's Horndean :ear:

What an absolutely brilliant day!! Probably the best cruise I have ever done. The turnout at the first Bandit Run meeting point at Thurrock Services was staggering. I have never seen so many big rigs (including the Snowman's Truck!) and there was a great selection of cars (including a few Bandit Trans-Ams of course! The run was very well organised, my thanks and congratulations to the organisers for a smoothly run day. And the CB radio made it all the more fun. The organisers were giving out information over the air and there were plenty of quotes from Smokey And The Bandit and some good humour from the other cruisers along the way. As we approached one of the tunnels, a call went out over the CB to sound our horns in the tunnel as a tribute to the Bandit... which was quite moving with all of those truck horns I can tell you. There were members of the public gathered on many of the bridges who were waving as we passed. I think dear old Burt Reynolds would have been very proud.

Yeah, but you’re in the US and you are going out in a Hellcat Charger. The US are remembering Burt by doing burnouts, burnout for Burt. What an opportunity and you can video it for us all to see.

Thanks for your comments guys. Just wanted to also post this picture which shows my car and Richard's Dodge police car as we cruised there together from Wisley services along with The Snowman's Truck. Cheers Rich!

Everyone I spoke to so far in the states didn't realise Burt has passed. Maybe it never made the news in this area.

Wow looks like it was a great time! :)
