MANHOOD CLASSIC CAR CLUB , EAST BEACH .

Future of meet at the car park held on the 3rd Sunday of every month throughout the year remains in doubt after the CHICHESTER DISTRICT COUNCIL PARKING SERVICES have just given notice to the club by e mail that the informal meet of members with their vehicles is to stop as it does not have the approval required . The club which was started by Les Payne and Mick Hemmings in October 2010 and which has over 400 members have been meeting at the public car park safely and successfully at East Beach and Selsey Golf club . The club who have public Liability Insurance meet at this venue from 10.00-12.30 , we enjoy meeting friends over a tea/coffee or a breakfast bap at Lucy and Richards kiosk on the beach . Les says that people will turn up today and on NEW YEAR DAY at east beach in the normal way at the public car park as there has been no way to contact everyone but this should not be seen now as an organised club car meet . The club will now consider their future plans and are asking our very active and supportive councillor Donna Johnson to help us to seek to get approval from CDC to continue . The club has this year raised over £2400 for local charities including the Selsey community Forum, Young Lives v Cancer and St Wilfred’s Hospice .

Thats a bummer about the council, what harm is it doing?, if anytihng it is boosting local economy for food and drinks etc..
Sad news, hope there is a way it can keep happening.

What's wrong with these people? All councils are hard up at this time. Why bother interfering?

its a jobs worth in the council. trying to justify their job,

if all said American car owners and classics car owners that turn up to this monthly meet now and turn up in their daily drivers what's the difference none same people just different vehicles , victimisation and less public would turn so less money in the economy

For now we will be holding 'Koffee @ the Kiosk', turn up, park in the public car park, and join us for food and drink at East Beach Kiosk, conveniently located a few yards from our old meeting place.

We need all the support we can get whilst we fight this.

Just received a message from the Manhood club.

Dear All,

Following legal challenge from Chichester District Council , it is with great regret that we must cease to meet at East Beach Car Park, Selsey with immediate effect.

This means NO meeting, event or get together is allowed in this car park despite our efforts to continue.

We will be having our first meet at the Selsey Golf Club as planned on Sunday 25th February.

Please pass this news on to anyone that you know that may have been going to attend, there will be NO meeting.

Les, Barry and Krys

so Chichester District Council no longer allow cars to park in there car parks ? i'm confused

so if you all turn up in your daily drivers what the difference its a public place , jobs worth in the council by the sounds of it,

It has to be said Krys and the rest of the MC team are doing an incredible job of addressing the issues without the unhelpful and frankly unnecessary shenanigans that usually goes on on social media. Hopefully they’ll manage to find another venue soon.
