The new Generation 6 Camaro seems to have a promising future in the world of Formula Drift.Matt Farah and The Smoking Tire co-writer Zach Klapman were at The Balcony of Willow Springs International Raceway recording “One Take” reviews of several drift cars when an idea was hatched. Farah had a new sixth-gen Camaro SS convertible on loan and the two decided it was pertinent to find out how well the new Camaro can slide, and most importantly, who can slide it best. The premise is simple: who can handle the impromptu drift course the best within four runs? We won’t ruin the surprise as to who “wins,” but know that behind the wheel of the new Gen 6, both guys were having a blast. Both Farah and Klapman have some formal training in the art of car control and getting cars to slide. Despite being an automatic convertible, arguably the least drift-ready setup out of the box, neither driver seems to have any issues initiating their slides. Though their follow-through is a bit more questionable, the responsive automatic transmission, big torque from the LT1 V8 engine and the excellent chassis tuning of the new Alpha platform makes the Gen 6 Camaro a potent weapon in the right hands. If you are a hoon, and you were on the edge about picking up a 6th gen Camaro, this video should be all the proof you need as to how much fun the car will let you have.via The Smoking Tire.Tags: burnout, camaro, Camaro SS, drift, Matt Farah, One Take, Smoking Tire
