We may not have endured a particularly virulent freeze over here in the UK, but over in the US, snow seems to have dominated the news agenda. And Nissan has paid attention for its latest PR-stunt - sorry, concept reveal.Basically, they"ve equipped their three US-spec all-wheel drives - the Murano, Pathfinder and Rogue - with American Track Truck Inc Dominator hub-mounted tracks. Add a red-chrome matte wrap and the entirety of the Nissan Accessories catalogue, and you have the Winter Warrior" series. The tracks are the usual axle-driven type we saw when we took Nissan"s Juke to Norway last year: 48in long, 30in high and 15in wide, essentially simply replacing the wheels and tyres. Nissan says the gearboxes and engines on all three vehicles are standard, and seeing as the tracks tend to act as reduction gears, the only thing thing that should limit these things is top speed. Or an arctic crevasse.Looking at them, the arches have been modified, but that"s to be expected - most crossover SUVs aren"t equipped with enough gap to cope with tracks. To complete the look, the three also get standard options like bumper protectors, roof rail crossbars and a 9ft by 9ft roof tent, as long as you"re wearing thermal underwear. And yes, they also get cargo-area protectors and all-season" floor mats as well, in case you were worried about staining.
