This, internet, is the Mercedes-AMG GT4. The AMG GT family is going to be pretty large there"s already a GT and more powerful GT S, with the madcap GT R and svelte GT C cabrio on the horizon. They"re all road cars, but there"ll be racecars too. We have the AMG GT3 now a big-winged, scary thing and now there"s a GT4. It"s meant to be the more approachable, novice-friendly AMG GT racer, a point made visually with its less in-yer-face aero kit and dinkier rear spoiler. These things are all relative, of course. It"s still a large spoiler. And there"s still an evil looking diffuser, ready to batter unsuspecting air into submission. It"s still a car that will require a modicum of talent to get the best out of, we suspect. Here"s what AMG boss Tobias Moers says: "The Mercedes-AMG GT4 is another important step in the continuing expansion of our Mercedes-AMG motorsport programme."The excellent feedback of our Customer Sports teams concerning the AMG GT3 and the increasing interest for GT4 race cars strengthened us in our decision. We are delighted to address an even larger target group of amateur and professional drivers and teams in the future with it."Specs are conspicuous by their absence, and you"ll note these are sketches, not photographs. But assume the car will appear on circuits next year. It"s got interesting competition, too, with everything from a Ford Mustang and Porsche Cayman to a McLaren 570S and KTM X-Bow coming in GT4 form.Which would you have?Share this page: FacebookTwitterGoogle+WhatsAppMailtoCopy link
