1965 Mustang Fastback 289ci V8 2v Auto
Original spec Rangoon red colour, original spec white crinkle pony interior.
Thought to be the original engine, but as Ford did not use matching number engines then (except on K code cars), it is impossible to confirm this.
Imported into the UK in 2013 from Texas. Just had 13,000 spent on restoration, with invoice to prove. Also 2,500 just spent on new spark plugs, HT leads, ignition coil, hydraulic lifters, push rods, water pump, high flow radiator, Kenlowe electric radiator fan (improves cooling, BHP & MPG), & oil & filter change.
it has also just had the carb overhauled (original one). And the carb was then set up perfectly on a Crypton Tuning machine.
I get over 18mpg!
Engine starts easily & runs perfectly.
Engine does not get too hot, even in traffic on a hot day.
Gearbox changes gear very smoothly.
302 heads fitted (larger inlet valves than a 289)
4 matching tyres.
No noticeable rust. Very solid underneath.
MOT 16 October 2016. FREE TAX!!!!
These cars are very rare, & are going up in value fast. A true investment.
in 1965 there were 500,000 coupes made, but only 70,000 fastbacks.
