It seems that the battle between forums/websites and Facebook continues...

Not sure if this can even be seen by anyone or whether this forum/website can even display it but for clubs that mostly now use FB this may be useful to someone?

It seems you can now select to embed 'posts' into websites, the code is generated from each post.

<div id="fb-root"></div> <script>(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1"; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));</script>
<div class="fb-post" data-href="https://www.facebook.com/VEightUK/posts/567884939975502" data-width="466"><div class="fb-xfbml-parse-ignore"><a href="https://www.facebook.com/VEightUK/posts/567884939975502">Post</a> by <a href="https://www.facebook.com/VEightUK">V8UK</a>.</div></div>

What does everyone think of FB? Seems to be slowly taking over the world but is this a good or a bad thing? With the post limitations I think it's perhaps a money grabbing company now but used to be pretty good...

I think both are good, there are still a lot of people who are not on Facebook, so clubs/organisations that only use and promote on Facebook are missing out on the wider audience. I like it that Solent Renegades has both this forum and facebook. Although I do prefer the forum as you can do so much more than just Facebook.

I'm sure Dan will like the more techy side of this lol :)

As been discussed on here before, I am not a facebook user and never will be due to privacy reasons.
I also read recently that facebook is becoming less popular with the teenagers and as it falls out of use with them, its inevitable that it will fall out of use with their parents too.
I'm sure the next fad is already being developed.

Facebook is full of useless information. Too many clubs are moving to facebook only, its not easy to find if that club is doing an event using facebook. I don't think website will ever die out. I certainly don't think Facebook is the way forward soley. Yeah it good for advertising, but i think you need a good basis of content on a website that a facebook page links too. that way you get the best of both worlds. Its worth harnessing the advertising of facebook to bring visitors to your website, just don't get rid of your website.

Facebook is banned from a lot of companies due to the time wasting aspect of it.

Facebook is a pile of rubbish. Its making them money from advertising it would be interesting how many millions per hour they are making. I only use it as a tool to point people to the forum.
They once wanted to update my details about 2 years ago, I popped in my mobile number into my account details. I then got texts of bloomin updates at 4am in the morning, I never asked for blooming texts. i swiftly deleted my account details after that.

And that Dan, is what many don't realise.
Everything you say, every message you send, everything you like, ends up in a database.
That database is sold and re-sold and who knows where it ends up? And now they are playing with your emotions too?
And Google is the same, whether you susbcribe to their services, email etc, use a Chrome book, or just use them as your browser or even your search engine - you don't do anything they don't record.
So glad I have never been a part of it.

It seems all the big companies do that same. There appears to be no getting away with it. Apparently Apple brought Twitter for marketing purposes, cant recall the prices, but it was millions, perhaps billions. They are going to make their money back somehow.

I think we are all in this world as part of a big experiment. Mind you I am under surveillance from the Statistical research people, so I like to throw a spanner in the works now and again and do something out of the ordinary.
