Following on from Genesis’s announcement that it will launch in Europe this summer, the premium Korean car brand has now revealed its G70 Shooting Brake.
The G70 Shooting Brake will be the fifth car Genesis brings to Europe, and it’s intended to rival the likes of BMW’s 3 Series Touring and the Audi A4 Avant.
The Shooting Brake’s styling carries over plenty of the design elements we’ve seen on other Genesis cars, with a ‘Crest Grille’ featuring alongside the front ‘Quad Lamps’ to accentuate the car’s sporty profile.
Identical in width, height and length to the G70 saloon on which it’s based, the G70 Shooting Brake is also more rakish than the average estate car. There’s no side window after the C-pillar with the tailgate sloping heavily to give the car a sleeker, sportier look. There’s still 40 per cent more boot space in comparison with the G70 saloon and the rear seats fold in a handy 40/20/40 split.
Inside, Genesis’s premium ambitions are clear to see with knurled finishes on most of the switchgear, as well as diamond quilted perforated leather. If the Shooting Brake is to match its saloon stablemate for technology, then you can expect a wireless smartphone charger, a 10.25-inch infotainment system and a 360-degree camera.

While powertrains have yet to be confirmed, it’s likely the G70 Shooting Brake will use the same engines found in the saloon. That could mean a choice of petrol motors, ranging from a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit with 251bhp and 353Nm of torque to a flagship turbocharged 3.3-litre V6 with 368bhp and 510Nm of torque. Genesis also offers a 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel with 199bhp and 440Nm of torque, which could feature.
Genesis says it plans on commencing European sales later this year, with the UK being one of the first countries to receive cars. Orders for Genesis’ luxury Mercedes E-Class rival, the G80, and the GV80 SUV will open in summer.
The G70 saloon and then the GV70 SUV will then follow, so it’s likely the G70 Shooting Brake will go on sale towards the end of the year. Prices for all of Genesis’s new models will be confirmed closer to the brand’s launch this summer in Europe.
