Google is taking control of one of Britain’s leading health technology developers, raising concerns that the tech giant is tightening its grip on NHS data. Acquired by Google in 2014, DeepMind’s healthcare division will cease to exist and be absorbed into Google Health. The decision comes just months after the artificial intelligence lab, which uses NHS patient information, promised never to share data with Google. Despite concerns from privacy advocates, DeepMind maintains it is “fully committed” to its NHS partners.
