Google is taking control of one of Britain’s leading health technology developers, raising concerns that the tech giant is tightening its grip on NHS data. Acquired by Google in 2014, DeepMind’s healthcare division will cease to exist and be absorbed into Google Health. The decision comes just months after the artificial intelligence lab, which uses NHS patient information, promised never to share data with Google. Despite concerns from privacy advocates, DeepMind maintains it is “fully committed” to its NHS partners.

All big companies are trying to take control. We need that solar flare to hit, take out technology and start from scratch. Need to ban 5G too before it microwaves everyone.
 
I think we'd all fall over if we could see how much data some of these huge companies hold about us all and watch what we do. I agree, something needs to stop them. Yeah, or maybe an EMP weapon lol
 
Come to think of it, I had an app on my phone a few months back to detect unuthorised activity as I was sure it was being spied on. I was amazed how many times it reported the camera and microphone were being used...sometimes showing Google as the cause!
 
If you have installed the Facebook app or Chrome (or other Google app) you ARE being spied on.
And it’s legit because you acknowledged the T&C’s when you installed it.

I deleted the Facebook App as soon as I got the phone. But it still has Chrome. I guess that's what was triggering that anti-spy app I had. I have read that Google can monitor the audio from your phone's microphone so it can pick out key words in order to target Google's marketing based on what they have heard you talking about!

All true. People Think of Google as a search engine, but Google is a marketing company. What they market to the highest bidder is data, about you, data gleaned from your searches, your email, your Pm’s On their service and now your health data. Skynet in the worst possible way. I know it makes me sound like some paranoid fool but if people would only do some research to educate and then protect themselves and their family they would realise the harm they are exposing themselves too currently.
I have taken the precaution of hiding everything in a secure VPN tunnel these days so that Google can’t snoop. Everything linked to Google is blocked and I would love to do the same to Facebook.
 
It would be comforting to think that we are all being paranoid, but unfortunately I don't think we are. As the name of this thread asks, how can we control it? Almost everything we do these days is on a computer, a smartphone or a tablet and even if we try blocking or checking what's being monitored, can we be sure Google don't have ways to can't get past that? Largely I think the public are oblivious of it in general and bringing it to the attention of the mass media is probably the only way to get it more policed. But that too is probably almost impossible as media companies themselves probably benefit from it.

Yep, too many PPI adverts, they keep saying the deadline is approaching, hopefully it will come and these darn adverts will stop.
 
Working in the garage yesterday put youtube on feking adverts so put planet rock on feking adverts put radio on the listern to music not adverts come inside put tv on adverts change channel more adverts change channel again more adverts feking hell and dont get me startd on ppi or acident claim phone calls even website that use cookies to monitor your viewing shame the cookies dont monitor how many time i turn off. If i want to watch that means tv not feking adverts same applies for radio i drove 12 miles took 25mins due to roadworks tractors and so on in that 25mins of travel hurd one song on the radio rest was feking adverts and DJ talking jibberish. .
 
YouTube red for no-adverts but it’s subscription based.
Switch to a bbc radio channel as then there are no adverts. Basically all these free services are paid for by advertisements except BBC who charge a license fee.
Most have paid for models that are advert free.
Register your phone numbers with TPS and go ex-directory to minimize cold calling.
