Interesting. Although, in terms of authenticity, I would have thought that no vehicles made after January 1980 would have originally had black and silver plates anyway. What a pain in the bum (and pocket) for those who have to replace them though.
I wonder if there is another reason? Maybe ANPR can't read black and silver plates very well? lol.

I'm sure ANPR cant read the ones hidden behind the windscreen partially covered by the wipers, but you always seen the same cars repeatedly, and oddly all German, merc, BMW, and vw.
You would think while letters on black were around a lot longer than the cameras so you'd think they should cope with it.
