This car has done 32,000 genuine miles from new. It was imported by me from Pennsylvania in 2012, where it had languished in the Swigart Museum since 1984. The US title includes a mark which denotes that the authority has verified the mileage to be genuine and this was 29,000 at the time the title was created.

The car is totally original except the paint, the car having received a light (and therefore inadequate) respray in its original gold colour many years ago in the US. I have subsequently overseen a full bare metal strip down and repair to the few rust damaged areas (usual front wings abutting the sills and rear lower quarters). I have over 30 years experience in high end restorations, so I can vouch for the quality of these repairs, and there is also a photographic record available.

The car has the 350 Oldsmobile engine, different and smoother than the ubiquitous Chevy variant and it drives very smoothly, arrow straight and with no odd rattles and squeaks as you would expect from a low mileage car. The convertible top is in very good order, it may be the original I"m not sure and the electro/hydraulic system works perfectly. All electrics work, including the fuel gauge and the lighting is up to UK spec.

The car has been wax treated to preserve the originality and looks stunning in the new livery of Chevrolet pearl white and gold, in the style of the 1970"s Hurst/Olds cars.

The Olds is a true 6 seater, and has 6 sets of lap belts which again are the original dated GM belts.

For sale only because I have project cars needing attention and I need the space and money to see those through to the same level as the Olds. I have thoroughly enjoyed the project and the finished car, and I have just returned from Surrey on a 600 mile round trip, 7 hours of which I had the roof down. It always draws a crowd and always gets compliments, and I know the new owner will be delighted with the way it drives and behaves, and how quiet and smooth it is, not just for a convertible, and not just for a 46 year old car, but even compared to modern cars.

If you are used to the "blam blam blam" ride of modern "sports" saloons, you are in for a pleasant surprise and the plough-straight-on, tyre shrieking, no brakes nonsense talked about by pub bores is no more than a hollywood myth.

My price is based on the bidding at the recent Sandown Park auction by Barons, which was getting near but not enough and the general market for a car of this mileage and calibre, and I believe I am being realistic. I may have actually undervalued it in some regard, so any offers will have to be close.

I am more than happy to discuss at length the car with seriously interested parties, but I have limited time for generalised classic car chit chatters and no time at all for tyre kickers and dreamers. I retain a special venom for third worlders who have millions in government kickbacks to give to lucky me, or who think I"ll fall for their harebrained scams.

I will very shortly have a Picasa file to enable you to view a lot of high quality photos and I"ll post the link here. I am happy to work with any shipper from anywhere once the car is paid for in full.
