Sebastien Loeb is a good driver. Between 2004 and 2012, the Frenchman single-handedly re-wrote the rallying record books, winning the WRC championship an unprecedented nine times on the bounce. And if he had one, Loeb"s LinkedIn page would also have him down as an X-Games champion, WTCC pilot, Le Mans 24 Hours runner-up and current King of the Hill. That"s after that heroic torpedoing run up Pikes Peak saw him obliterate the record by a massive 92 seconds. However, there"s one event Seb"s never won: a round of the FIA World Rallycross. Well, up until last weekend. The Flying Frenchman stormed the Latvian WRX round in Riga by winning the first semi-final ahead of top qualifier Johan Kristoffersson. He then dominated the final, having made the best start from the front row of the grid and finished 2.3 seconds ahead of Mattias Ekstrom. So there"s another trophy to try and find a place for on the mantelpiece. Saying that, having conquered pretty much every form of motorsport on the planet, there"s one significant jewel in the crown missing: the Dakar. But that"s something he wants to change next January, when he"ll smash the mega Peugeot 3008 DKR across the South American desert for two weeks straight.Share this page: FacebookTwitterGoogle+WhatsAppMailtoCopy link
