Lot 220 Pontiac Trans Am 6.6 T-Top 1979

Estimated Value : 10,000 12,000

This icon of seventies American cars the 1979 Pontiac Trans-Am 6.6 complete with its Screaming Eagle bonnet graphic, has to be ranked along with the Mustang, as one of the most recognised cars to come out of the States!

Imported into the UK when just 2 years old, this particular example has spent the last ten years in a private collection. It does not appear to of been restored in its life so is very original. The Solar Gold exterior does show signs of minor touch in s being carried out over the years, so to make perfect would need some attention. But it is bright and presentable as it is and these slight imperfections almost add to the cars originality. As you would have seen, this is also a T-Top equipped car making it more desirable and rarer than the solid roof model. The wheels are the correct and original snow Flake alloys with matching tyres all round.

With a low recorded mileage of under 85000 miles the 6.6 litre V8 under the hood is barely run in, still pulling like a tank and sounding great. Let s face it a Big Block American V8 has a sound that will make 99% of car lovers smile and this 1979 car is the last year of the Big Block in this body shell.

The interior is again, very original in a matching tan colour. There are some marks and even small areas you could improve, but keeping to the theme of originality, a good deep clean would improve things and it would be very presentable and still as it left the factory. The T-Top panels are in good condition and there were no signs of the seals leaking when the car was washed.

The MOT is through to August this year and the general mechanics are all good. The car drives well through all the gears in its automatic gearbox and that Big-ole V8 is more than capable of making you grin like a teenager again (and behave like one!) if asked to.

Representing very good value, an excellent investment opportunity and rare on the market, this Trans-Am is definitely one to look at whether you are a fan of American vehicles, a collector of classic cars or just looking to invest.
