This weekend, the 76th Goodwood Members" Meeting will take place. For those of you that don"t know, MM is a bit like the Revival (lots of tweed, lots of speed) just a bit colder and with an added sprinkling of exclusivity. It"s a members-only weekend of historic motor racing, and one of the only places on Earth where you"ll see multi-million-pound vintage racers thrown about like a 1,000 MR2 on a track day.The cars competing are mega. Simply mega. Just check out some of last year"s cars, as well as videos of them in action, in the gallery above. This year"s Members" Meeting will be especially poignant as it"ll also serve as a tribute to Goodwood"s adored maestro Henry Hope-Frost.Tragically, Henry died in a road traffic accident on Thursday, March 8. Since then, the motorsport community has been sending overwhelming tributes via social media and to a dedicated JustGiving page to the charming man dubbed the Voice of Goodwood". As a further tribute, shortly before Saturday"s Formula 5000 High-Speed Demonstration, many very loud, very big engines will fire up for a Minute of Fever", a word strongly associated with Hope-Frost and his passion-filled commentary. It should be epic. We"re going to be there cameras and microphones in hand so you can experience the fever for yourself. So check back on Monday for all the action from the weekend. And given that The Beast from the East"s brother is planning to dump a load of snow over Goodwood this weekend, the racing should be nothing short of interesting. So go and wish our very own Chris Harris the best of luck as he"ll be racing a Rover 3500 SD1 in the Gerry Marshall Sprint. We can"t wait to see what happens.
