Genuine 1970 RT/SE DODOGE CHALLENGER
It"s time for a change. I have owned this car since 1982, and have had it completely rebuilt over a 10 year period, finishing it in 2003, since this date, it has only covered 2000 miles, so is basically like a new car.
Body...
The rear quarters, roof, and doors are all original, stripped to bare metal, and correctly prepped, by an ex Rollys Royce body engineer. The rear infill panel, (between roof and Trunk), is a new old stock item. The trunk lid, rear panel, and bumper, are all fibreglass, taken from molds from the original parts. The front is a 2-piece fibreglass item, from "VFN" in Illinois, and is copletely removable. The front bumper is fibreglass, again from an original part mold.
Paintwork, is the oiriginal colour, Chrysler FC7 Plum Crazy, just as the car left the factory. The roof is a"Year One" item, in the correct colour as the car left the factory, although this wasn"t a good idea, as it always looks grubby, and so l have another Year One roof to go with the car, in black.
Interior...
This is completely changed, with a pair of "JAZ" seats, and the rest of the interior is ally panelled, professionally done, at Andy Robinson Race Cars, and also silver powder coated. In the rear are 2 huge ally (coated), tubs, with a nice touch of an embossed "Pentastar" between them. The dash is a one-off handbuilt ally unit, built by Geoff Cousins, and houses various Auto Meter Pro gauges, along with switches etc. The steering column, is again hand made, as is the one-off ally steering wheel, all in satin billet. There is a B&M Pro shifter between the seats. The rest of the interior, is all new metal, and painted FC7 to match the car.
Engine...
This is the engine that came in the car, (no"s matching), and is extensively modified, as follows.
The original block has been "hot tanked", and fitte with brass core plugs. The crank is a steel item, there are "Direct Connection" rods, connected to TRW Forged 12.5:1 pistons, with total seal rings. All cam beaqrings were replaced, and a "Competition Cam" fitted. This is all topped off by reworked 906 heads, housing double valve springs, teflon seals, and then Crane Roller Rockers. Up above all this, sits a polished Weiand Tunnel Ram, with twin 600 Holleys, and a Mr Gasket Street scoop. There is the usual mini hi-torque starter, along with a polished ally water pump, and water pump housing. The clever bit at the front, is the one-off tooth belt drive for the water pump and alternator, again built by Geoff Cousins, and gives the car the evil "blown" sound. There is also a direct port Pro-Shot Fogger Nitrous system for good measure! Cooling is handled by a Griffin radiator, made stateside, and imported.
Gearbox....
Is again the original 727 Torqueflight, completely rebuilt with B&M internals, along with a B&M Super holeshot torque convertor.
Suspension/brakes...
The suspension is all fully adjustable Leda units, all detailed in FC7, and has a 4-link rear end, with polished stainless cross brace. The brakes are all Willwood disc"s and callipers, along with a willwood master cylinder/pedal. The car is also fitted with a Moroso line lock. All brake lines are run in polished stainless, with braided hose ends.
Rear axle...
Again the original unit, completely rebuilt by Andy Robinson Race Cars, with Richmond 4.56 gears.
All fuel lines are run in braided hoses, and there are 2 circuits, one for the engine, and one for the nitrous, both have blue top holleys below the 12 gallon fuel cell, housed in the trunk, along with nitrous bottle, battery, and one-off ally washer bottle, which also handles, the "under wheels arch water jets!" The trunk is also detailed, in FC7, and powder coated ally.
Exhaust..
This was professionally made, with 21/4" tuned length headers, down into collectors with removable caps with extensions, and then back under the car, over the axle, to 2 new stainless steel 2-way slashed ends, as per standard on the RT models. The entire system was ceramic coated in silver.
Wheels/tyres..
Out back are 15x15 polished Centerlines, with 33x21.5x15 Mickey Thomson Pro tyres, these are as new. Front has 31/2"x 15 polished Centerlines, with matching Mickey Thomson front runners, again, as new.
Underneath...
Is fully detailed, in FC7 , l have spent many hours under there polishing the floor!! Just about every nut/bolt on this car is polished stainless.
Chassis...
Pro-built, by Owen Engineering, and "tagged" to Super Gas class.
At the strip...
Car has run into the 10 second 1/4 mile, on street tyres, and with the smallest nitrous jets, so SHOULD go even quicker!
General...
All door seals etc have been replaced with factory items, all headlamps have been replaced with new items, indicator lenses to the front are also new. The door mirrors were sourced, and are correct for the year, (you try finding some!).Outback, is an Andy Robinson designed rear spoiler in ally, painted FC7. I think i"ve covered everything, anything else please ask.
MAY p/ex OR even swap for something interesting, especially Corvette, vantage etc
£35000 As stated
