It"s facelift o"clock for Renault"s tiny Clio. Four years after the fourth-generation went on sale, the French firm has booked the stylish supermini in for some light surgery to tighten it up around the edges and keep it feeling fresh. If you can spot those changes, reward yourself with something because your eyes are working better than ours. As you can (or can"t) see, both inside and out the tweaks are pretty minimal. The headlights are more jazzy thanks to new C-shaped daytime running lights, plus the main units are now full of LEDs. The front grille has been widened and is more sculpted to accentuate a new mouth and bring the Clio"s face in line with other Renault siblings like the new Megane and Kadjar. At the back, the rear bumper has been slightly modified and the car is now available in four new colours with a few new wheel options. The cabin has been swathed in completely new upholstery and plastics that are normally reserved for posher models. There"s less shiny chrome, but more premium, less-scratchy plastics and a better, more functional infotainment system. Plus, you can now get front parking sensors if you"re always crashing into things ahead of you, plus a reversing camera on some models in you keep crashing into things behind you. If you do both of these things, the top-spec version with a new self-parking function may be for you. Under the bonnet are all the same engines as before. However, there"s now a 1.5-litre diesel with 108bhp that"s joined the party. Plus, the small TCe 120 petrol engine is now available with a six-speed manual transmission for maximum fuel sipping. Pricing hasn"t been announced yet but expect a small increase from the current 11,145 when the order books open in the autumn. Just for reference, that"ll make the car more expensive than both the Ford Fiesta and the Vauxhall Corsa. But where would you put your money?
