Report: Dodge Viper Could Disappear in 2017 Following Plant Shutdown

Our worst fears have begun to materialize, as details are emerging surrounding the oncoming death of the beloved Dodge Viper. According to a report from Allpar, a contract between Fiat Chrysler and the UAW outlines plans to end production at the Viper's Conner Avenue plant in 2017

Following the debut of the all-new, redesigned Viper in 2013, the Viper has struggled to sell in any sort of respectable numbers, even with a massive $15,000 price cut in 2014. Dodge only sold 760 Vipers in 2014, and has sold 503 through September of this year. This lack of demand resulted in a production halt in March of 2014, when FCA claimed dealers had a 412 day supply of the supercar. Production at the Conner Avenue plant resumed in November later that year, but now the current UAW agreement states that the facility will shut down in 2017, leaving the Viper's future even more uncertain.
