Last month we caught wind of BMW"s new special edition M4 Competition Sport", designed to sit between the standard coupe and the M4 GTS. Now, some proper, actual information has come to light.First, the not-so-good bit. BMW is still only going to make 60 units, and they are still only available in Spain. Each one will set you back 132,900, which is about 104,700. Not that you can buy one with British cash anyway. The good bit? The M4 CS churns out 444bhp at 7,000rpm, and a healthy 332lb ft of torque. It"ll go from 0-62mph in four seconds flat, which is just two tenths down on the M4 GTS (3.8s), and top out at a limited 174mph (down 16mph on the GTS too). With a claimed 34mpg, it"ll do 1mpg more than the GTS, though. Even small wins are still victories. There are new side skirts, a new rear diffuser, CFRP mirror housings, a high gloss finish to the kidney grille and side mouldings, and of course, a monster, carbon fibre rear wing. And new seats. And CFRP trim on the inside. And a numbered plaque.Beyond that, the main features are largely as expected: a seven-speed automatic gearbox, carbon ceramic brakes, 20-inch wheels, adaptive dampers, dynamic stability control and one of those systems that tells you the ideal time to change gear.BMW will even enrol you on a driver training programme to teach you how to get the most out of your new motor. Engage slideyOh, and there"s a choice of three colours: blue, white or black. Although there"s nothing to stop you performing a DIY respray once you"ve got your hands on the keys.Reckon they should build a limited run for the UK too, or would you rather just stump up the extra for the full-blown GTS (assuming you can get your hands on one)?
