Could be worse I could be taxed on emmisions. I'm taxed on any engine size greater than 1.3l

£255 seems like a big increase from last year, can't recall what it was, thought it was £225.

245 would think for last year.

Count yourself lucky - I’m paying based on co2 readings :(.

And that is?

feking road tax for cars is a shambles some cars zero rated some cars around 30quid some cars mid range 250quid other cars 500 plus and differant style of car same make just could be an estate or a vann but have same engine and tax is so differant so what dose that have todo with emmissions
it's just a ploy to get us to buy new cars as the car industry is failing keeping car's on the road is recycling do are bit for the envorment and the 2nd parts new parts market for jobs, rant over,

My kia was meant to be free tax as emmisions was under 95. On delivery of the car it was reclassified as around 102. So having to pay £20 a year road tax.

Teslas are something like £400 Road tax a year due to being an electric car of greater than £40k. I think road tax should be for repairing roads, and all cars including electric cars of any value should contribute towards the roads. Electric cars damage the roads as much as any other car.

This is typical of our government unfortunately, they will move the goalpost if it means making more money.
I have touched on the unfairness of our car tax system in a previous thread. If we're talking about emissions and the upkeep of roads (which is what it's all about), for someone who drives to the shops a couple of times a week and a rep doing 50k a year to both be paying the same is fundamentally unfair. One will inevitability cause more pollution and damage than the other. They should just have a basic tax charge to cover admin costs and stick the rest on fuel. That would be fairer to the lower mileage motorists... and would be better for us classic car owners

Very true will,

Lots of cars are being traded in very cheap sitting on the for corts up for sale but check the road tax on the car it,s scarey and What happens to the scrap age cars sit in the field going rusty ,
Pot hole repairs are a joke repair the same holes time and time again do it properly the 1st time you wouldn't need to return as this adds to the cost,
There is a big patch of pot holes up the road about 10mm Sq they keep repairing each time the holes are bigger cut the section out repair complete area in one go job done,

10 sq meters doh, it's getting worse each day soon as water gets in under top layer and frezzes it cracks even more now there is a pot hole further up road and the complete wheel goes in have to sweve to avoid it,

fek how much road tax

Yep £47 ish a month :(

I think it’s wring as firstly they think the car is a 56 plate and dvla have told me that they were provided with a co2 figure when it was imported. I’m still trying to fight it - but not sure how far I’ll get!

I can prove the car was manufactured on 1st March 2005 so I can get them to change the v5 but I still dont know how to get them to change to ved :(

Good luck with the VED then .
