Peugeot has joined the PHEV party, with the release of its new Hybrid" and Hybrid4" powertrains for the 3008 crossover and 508 saloon/estate. Hybrid", which for now is only available in the 508, pairs a 180bhp petrol engine with a 110bhp electric motor, both driving the front wheels only through an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Total power when the two combine is 225bhp, with Peugeot promising tailpipe emissions of less than 49g/km of CO2. The 3008, meanwhile gets Hybrid4". That means a more powerful 200bhp petrol engine, a second electric motor for all-wheel drive (this is the only 4x4 3008 you can buy) and a bigger battery 13.2kWh. So equipped, the crossover will do 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds quick, for such a thing, matching proper hot hatches and it promises 30 miles of electric range.
