The Mopar brand is stampeding into the 2018 SEMA Show with a brand-new HEMI®-engine-powered beast: the “Hellephant” 426 Supercharged Mopar Crate HEMI engine, which turns the crank at a mammoth 1,000 horsepower and 950 lb.-ft. of torque.

Would fit nicely in the Challenger!

lol, Hellephant, the name sounds like it will be slow and heavy, couldn't they find a better name for it?

Thats some awesome power numbers, make any car better then a Veyron with that. Veyron weighing about 2.5tonns, you could probably shave 1 ton off that with lightening of a car and sticking this Hemi engine in it, well good power to weight ratio.

The original 426 Hemi was known as the Elephant. I suspect that a combination of Elephant with Hellcat supercharger gives it its nickname.
I’d be happy with a Hellcat!

Just thinking about it. If they offer this motor in the model line-up (as opposed to or as well as crate) it will make the Challenger/Charger lineups quite complicated.

V6 Pentastar
5.7L Hemi
392 (6.4L) Hemi
6.2L supercharged (The Hellcat)
6.2L supercharged (The Demon)
Hellephant

So, ok the Demon Run is over but the amount of engine available is sufficient.
Would they drop the 5.7 and push the engines down?
So the R/T gets the 392
The ScatPack & SRT gets the Hellcat
The current Hellcat gets the hellephant.
Fun to wonder.....
