I am the second UK owner of this extremely clean and well maintained 1961 Ford Thunderbird.
It is known as the "Bullet Bird" and this is the first of the 3 years this body style was used.
there has been an extensive restoration to this car but none structural as it has never been damaged nor is there any rust.
it was built on March 21st 1961 and although a bit tatty, I have got the original build sheet.
The brakes have been completely overhauled wit replacement drums, cylinders and linings.
The fuel tank and sender unit has been replaced as have the shocks, dashtop, carpet, scuff plates and the front seat covers to match the original ones.
There are new rubber mats with the Thunderbird logo on them in the front and back.
Apparently, this was the only T / bird made in that year to have a contrasting red roof.
The wheels are chrome spokes at around 1,800 per set and quality Michelin tyres with white bands at 429 each.
The back end of the fins have had the cast chrome pieces replaced as have the "Eyebrows" over the headlights.
The head lining is the only let down and might benefit a replacement which are around 120 from States.
The automatic transmission has been overhauled and like the 390ci engine does what it should.
The steering column is quite unique as it will swing away to the right when you engage Park to allow more room to exit the car.
All windows are power and work correctly with no cracks or blemishes.
There is pitting to the 2 quarter light window frames but other than that the car is virtually fsaultless
The entire car is a clean presentable example.
Inside the trunk area there is a set of correct new covers including one for the spare wheel.
I am selling this to someone who will enjoy this ancient icon as I do and keep it in a fully carpeted garage with a heater for the cold weather.
I will exchange this car for only other American ones which are of the fifties, sixties or possibly the seventies.
I do not want any Mercedes or Jaguar etc.
To road test this car you will need proof of insurance, so if not please be prepared to be a passenger.
I am asking a sensible negotiable price of 16,500.
As the mileage is thought to be correct and was bought by me with assurances with photos from USA of oddometer this is 32,100 and now showing 33,150 and is reflected in the price and condition.
all instruments working but heater has not been tested as the car never goes out in the cold. I will part exchange up or down with cash. Please ask.
