Spare Trans-am door

There is a Trans-Am door available in Essex, that is there I got the seats from. My current door has a crack around a hinge and has been there since 2002, it had been repaired, but with stress of the long door and trying to go out of square the outer skin wants to come away from the door.

So this other door is a good price, it is red, the door handle is black, where mine is read, the Trans-Am lettering is black where mine is silver. So minor things that can be swapped.

Just measured my door and its 145cm long and around 110cm tall including glass. This isn't going to fit in the Kia. may have to take the T/A to pick it up.

It was over 3 years ago I took the door off to repair it, I couldn't have done much better. Reinforced the hinge as well as I could, fiberglass all around it, and the edges of the door.

I guess there is soo much stress on the hinge, its a real test of the repair.
I will keep my old door as a spare, and possibly repair it again one day.

I have messaged the chap with the door to check he still has it, may go and get it Friday evening, as its Essex I'm not sure when the M25 is going to be grid locked, that is probably the worse time to go. I'll probably need a passenger too to pay the toll bridge.

Dartford crossing fee's, looks like its online, so I haven't got to aim the coins into a bin from the other side of the car anymore, bonus.

Just remember Dan - its half term next week so people might be off on Friday night so busy busy busy

Thanks for the thought, I have messaged the chap, he will be in in the afternoon. so I have booked the day off work. He says the M25 is a bit hit and miss. so fingers crossed I'm not sitting in traffic. I have just pre-paid the dartford crossing both ways for the Trans-Am.

Aim to arrive as early as possible within his availability.
The M25 starts early on a Friday and I advise you to be home again before it really starts.... or stops!

As a frequent user of the M25 i can tell you that it is totally pot luck, example i went through Dartford between 9-9.30am yesterday to Dagenham with no real issue,on my return trip about an hour later the north bound was stationary,

I can’t comment on the stretch east of London. It’s not on my route. But from the M40, past both the M4 & M3 down to M23 can be a complete nightmare with stoppages for no apparent reason. I frequently end up going cross country just to avoid sitting still.

Got the door.
Left home about 12.30pm. traffic was good until right near the dartford tunbel crossing. Taking 40mins to travel 5 mike's. Got to the destination at 4pm. Collected the door, he also had a dash pad with a small crack in it, so I have tgat too. Was there for about 20mins. Then off home. It was slow getting back on the M25 and slow over the Dartford bridge. Soon many people trying to change lanes just to get 1 car ahead after changing lanes 20times.
stopped off at clacket lane services. Was going to get food but the queue had about 100 people in it. So get back on the road and had a burger king in Guildford. Traffic around Guildford was slow. Got home about 8.20pm.
Fuel wasn't too bad. Filled up on the A3 north of Guildford and it got me there and home. About 1/4 tank left, so possibly used 8 gallons to do 160miles.

Before clacket lane services I discovered I had a passenger. A big hairy 8 legged kind. Must have been in the door I picked up. Noticed it walking along the passenger side sun visor, towards the driver's side. Not alot I could do apart from suddenly not being afraid of them, what is the worst they can do, they probably dont bite, it's too big to crawl in my ears. So could only go up my nose or mouth. I had a lorry beside me, so just had to keep calm, I wound down my window and got a bit of rag, hoping he would get close enough to the window so I could throw him out. That moment didn't happen, and he has dissapeared in the roof lining. I had itchy hair for the remainder of the journey, probably all his mates having a party.

My worse nightmare !!

my wife says the spiders in our house are her pets. i think its an excuse not to do any dusting
