The new Ford GT is expected to be on the road later this year, but unfortunately it won"t be a case of first come, first served" if you"re planning on queuing overnight at the dealership.Instead, Ford has decided that potential buyers must first fill out an application form as demand is expected to far outstrip supply when production finally gets underway. The process will be used to identify the "most deserving" new customers, with preference going to loyal customers and current GT owners. There are geographical limitations as well. People from just 19 countries across North America, Europe and Asia will be eligible for consideration, but the rest of the world will have to do without. Sorry. The lucky few who survive the online cull and end up placing orders on the 280,000+ machine will eventually take delivery of a supercar that is expected to produce around 600bhp from its 3.5-litre EcoBoost engine. That figure is even more impressive when you consider that the track version - set to make its European racing debut at Silverstone this weekend - will have less power than the road car.Fear not though. While the chances of you ever owning a new GT are incredibly slim, you can at least visualise your dream designs with Ford"s online configurator. You can choose from eight different base colours, plus various other options including wheels, brake calipers, interior styles, and whether or not you want a stripe down the middle of the car. Which, of course, you will.Click onwards to observe our best (and one not very good) efforts, and then have a go yourself here. Oh, and don"t forget to cancel your plans for the rest of the day
