This year marks the first time a Tesla has been campaigned on the legendary Pikes Peak International Hillclimb. And 2016 also marks the first time a Tesla has won at the Pikes Peak International Hillclimb.Yes folks, a Model S has set a new record for production electric vehicles at this year"s race, campaigned by founder of Go Puck" Blake Fuller. He managed to race to the clouds 11min 48sec, besting the previous time by over a minute. The car was lightened by just over 360kg, and featured a racing seat and harness, a full roll cage, fire extinguishers and window nets. Oh, and Go Puck"s own battery tech, said to be considerably lighter than Tesla"s own. We"ll leave you to decide how production" that is.Of course, his time of 11m 48.264s leaves him adrift of Romain Dumas and his overall winning time of 8m 51.445s, (and of course, Loeb"s all-time record of 8m 13.878s). But, for a sort-of-standard Tesla, it"s not bad, is it?Share this page: FacebookTwitterGoogle+WhatsAppMailtoCopy link
