SEMA has issued a press release informing the public that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is aiming to make it illegal to convert automobiles originally designed for on-road use into racecars, even though such conversions have been done for decades.

Under the EPAs proposed rule, it would also be illegal to sell any performance-related products for those cars. The EPAs proposal would have a devastating impact on motorsports since many types of racing rely on production vehicles that have been modified for use strictly at the track.

If it happen it will effect alot of bussiness and job's, wasn't there someone with in the white house circle? goverment? that was into his car's (old american i think?) mybe sema and NRSA could loby them as well to help keep the threat away?

Now that I think about it - there was a recent thing (5 years ago?) from the EU about modifying cars.
I wrote to my MP about it who admitted to knowing nothing it about until he read my email.
Basically it would mean even changing the exhaust would be illegal even if the replacement had more effective cats and was quieter. - Its plain stupidity.

Yes shutch ashame about shakey , building more and more houses why don't the greenies goverment,local councials look at all the empty properties about instead of letting them lay idea with nothing happening to them in the 12 mile RADIUS from me to nearest town there is about 7 properties vacant, some are really nice, when i used to cover brighton there are so many empty properties and land it's unbeleavable, there is a plot of land in the center of brighton that's been boared up for a good 15 year's this is open land they could of made it parking until they sold the land that would of also broutght in money for the council , RANT OVER,
