Among all the shiny new cars at last month"s Geneva motor show, there was a shiny old one. Morgan showed off the Aero GT, and while it"s a brand new model, it"s vintage in its styling and antiquated but joyously so in its use of a big naturally aspirated V8 engine. This is the first to roll off the production line. Only seven more will follow it, as this is a very limited-run special to use the last eight 367bhp 4.8s Morgan has in its store cupboard. Which suggests that Morgans after this will come equipped with a modicum of modern technology beneath their long, sculpted bonnets. All eight will be entirely bespoke to their buyer (about right, when it costs 144k), and this first one comes in the same Miami Blue you may know from recent Porsche 911s and 718s. It"s quite lovely, and just the bold colour you probably want in a car this unashamedly bold. And loud.
