Ever since the folks at Ford crawled out of their secret bunker and surprised us with the new Ford GT at the 2015 Detroit motor show, we"ve been itching for more information. What we know so far is that it"s out with the old V8 and in with a new 3.5-litre twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 placed carefully in the middle to power the rear wheels through an automatic gearbox. That engine should have more than" 600bhp, along with Le Mans winning nous behind it to deliver a 0-60mph time close to 3.0secs and a top speed north of 200mph. All good things. There are more good things. Those gorgeous flying buttresses and intricate aero details show that Ford"s taken quite a step in the opposite direction to the retro-tastic GT of ten years ago. We know that there are active aero elements including a rear wing whose height and angle react to speed and conditions. And now, we can see it in action. This behind-the-scenes video shows wind tunnel testing at Ford"s plant in Allen Park, Michigan. A team of bespectacled engineering types blast 125mph smokey winds at the car to see how all those functional holes, scoops and winglets work together. Then there"s the pi ce de r sistance: the raising and bowing of the rear wing, surely worth the rumoured 400,000 asking price alone. Production of the pushrod supercar will begin later this year, with the number limited to just 250 cars every twelve months. So if you want one, you better start saving as they"re sure to be fetching for over sticker price very soon. Share this page: FacebookTwitterGoogle+WhatsAppMailtoCopy link

It does look nice. If i was to own another Ford then this may be the one, a step up from a 1995 fiesta.
