Cigarette Racing and AMG have been working together since 2007. To mark their ten-year anniversary - and AMG"s 50th - something other than tin was required. Meet the Marauder AMG: a 3,100bhp speed boat inspired by the Mercedes-AMG GT R. Hulk, Smash!Unveiled at the Miami International Boat Show, the Marauder AMG features much carbon fibre throughout its construction. So much in fact, that Cigarette Racing have managed to shed more than 590kg from its predecessor. The deck, cockpit (with space for five all in) and consoles feature carbon fibre construction (with a foam core). Even the electrics have been to boot camp, taking in weight savings wherever possible. The engine hatch? Yep, you guessed it, carbon fibre. Why such liberal use of lightweight materials? Dynamism, for a start. And speed. Much, much speed. Underneath that carbon fibre engine hatch you will find quite a bit of engine. Two of them. Not, unfortunately, a pair of AMG"s finest but instead a pair of Mercury Racing quad cam units. Excellent, there are two settings for these engines. Select the Pleasure" key fob, and each one delivers 1,350bhp on 91 octane fuel. Activate the Race" key fob however, and 1,550bhp - combining to make that 3,100bhp headline figure - is instantly yours to do with as you wish.About that AMG inspiration. Gordon Wagener - Daimler"s head of design - was enlisted to sort out the paint and detailing. The interior seat inserts for example, were built by AMG"s Performance Studio, and the green paint detailing is the same Green Hell Magno" used on the GT R. This, says AMG, creates "an instant connection" to that car, which itself is pretty handy around the Green Hell (the GT R claims a 7m 10.92s lap time around the N rburgring, don"t forget). Oh, there"s also a special commemorative logo celebrating AMG and Cigarette Racing"s ten year partnership."One racing icon has inspired another," explains Wagener, "and we are proud to continue to set the benchmark and seamlessly combine design and performance both on land and on the sea."Fancy it?
