Bad news if you want a Seat Leon Cupra R: it"s all sold out. In the UK, at least. With just 24 coming to British shores, we"d argue Seat was very conservative in its sales expectations. Perhaps any spares from the rest of the car"s 799-strong allocation might make their way to usNeed a reminder on the third generation of Leon Cupra R? It"s the most potent Leon yet the king of Leons, if you will using a 306bhp 2-litre turbo engine. You"ll find identical power in a VW Golf R, but the Seat is different, sending power only through its front wheels. Some differential technology helps manage it all, though, and with its optional Michelin Cup tyres it can find unfathomable amounts of grip. Its top speed is 155mph, while 0-62mph takes 5.8secs.In the UK, it costs (well, it did cost) 34,995. That makes it one of the most expensive Seats ever, but that"s seemingly no barrier when you"ve got just 24 customers to find."The Leon is very nearly as focused as the Honda Civic Type R, very nearly as fast, and its styling treads a path many will prefer," we said when we drove it last year."The Cupra R, plus the new Hyundai i30 N and (we hope) the next RenaultSport Megane all prove the Civic - no matter how talented - doesn"t have the berserk front-wheel-drive game to itself."Read our full Seat Leon Cupra R review here Share this page: FacebookTwitterGoogle+WhatsAppMailtoCopy link
