This is the T-Cross Breeze Volkswagen"s Polo-sized convertible front-wheel drive SUV set to make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show. For now little more than a concept, VW"s head of design Klaus Bischoff says the Breeze is a "teaser for the most compact sport utility vehicle that Volkswagen plans to make," as well as being "the nucleus of a new SUV and convertible design". So the soft top isn"t just for GenevaVolkswagen is getting into SUVs big time. In the coming years there"s to be a long-wheelbase version of the Tiguan (though not for us Brits), plus a new mid-size SUV for the Americans and Chinese. And now that the Tiguan has swelled a size, expect a Golf-sized crossover inspired by VW"s 2014 T-Roc Concept. And then there"s the T-Cross, which points towards something smaller still. Heralded by Bischoff as "the new start [of VW]," the Concept is fitted with a 1.0-litre turbocharged engine with 108bhp and a seven-speed DSG. Good for 62mph in a little over 10secs, it"s a bit longer and much wider than an existing Polo, and tips the scales at 1,250kg.
