How about a big dollop of freedom? This Detroit Speed-tuned 1972 Corvette is just what we all need. Detroit Speed has teamed up with Matt Farah of The Smoking Tire to bring about several videos covering the crazy cars and packages that they can build for their customers. The headline figures are all big: big power, big tire and big performance. This 1972 ‘Vette has been built by Detroit Speed to compete in the Goodguy’s Autocross series in the “Pro” class. To that end, it features a MAST motorsports-built LS3 engine making 590 horsepower and “a whole lot” of torque; a close-ratio 4-speed manual transmission with 4.11 rear end gears; the complete Detroit Speed C3 chassis and suspension setup with independent rear suspension has been retrofit to this car, paired with 6″ worth of flared bodywork and massive Forgeline wheels using 315-section width front and 335-section width rear tires; BFG Rival’s to be specific.Between the straight-cut non-synchronized transmission whirring away, and the engine roar, this Corvette is a symphony of mechanical joy. Watch and listen as Farah bangs gears and drives the ultimate modern take on a Trans-Am racer from 40 years ago.
