Yep, you read the headline correctly: one of Aston Martin"s track-only Vulcan hypercars is being auctioned off next month, and we don"t really need to say much more than that.Other than the fact it"s number 11 from a build run of just 24 Vulcans, packs a 7.0-litre naturally-aspirated V12 nutjob engine rated at 820bhp, and, um, is purple. It"s also loud, absurdly quick and as we found out when we drove it, "magic".You"ll know all about the Vulcan: it"s all splitters and diffusers and rear wing all tightly packaged into Aston"s new design language. It"ll also shoot fire from its side exit exhausts: surely worth the price of entry alone.About that price: Mecum, offering up the Vulcan at its Monterey sale in August, haven"t mentioned anything. But expect it to be considerably higher than the 1.8m its original owner (who has barely driven it) paid. So, time to find some cash then. Any takers?Top Gear in the Aston Martin VulcanPics via Mecum Auctions
