We quite like people who fit ludicrous engines into tiny little cars. Take the Ferrari V8-engined Toyota GT86, for example. Or this Mazda MX-5. But even eight cylinders were too few for one German bloke, who when it came to replacing a BMW Z4 Coupe"s six-cylinder with something a bit more purposeful, decided no less than ten would do. But it"s not BMW"s own V10 from the old M5 that somebody has mated with the Z4, but the 8.3-litre behemoth from a Dodge RAM SRT-10. That"s the same engine you get in a Dodge Viper. The Google Translate"d eBay ad" paints a pretty picture: "As the carriage moves, can be a word to describe very well: brutal." Right. It says the Z4 makes 542bhp and 553lb ft. The transmission"s a Tremec six-speed manual, there"s a properly serious roll-cage and an exhaust with baffles that open at 3,800rpm. Oh, and the brakes are from an Audi R8. Its dry-weight is a smidge under 1,400kg, which given the bare interior is unsurprising.
