This is a 1968 Ferrari 275 GTS/4 NART Spider, and it"s very valuable. When it crosses the auction block on May 14th in Monaco, auctioneer RM Sotheby"s reckons it"ll fetch over 19million. Or about 15million.Why so expensive? For starters, it"s rare. Really rare. Ferrari only built ten, and this is the last one. Plus, it"s the only one delivered new to Europe, and the third-from-last 275 of any type ever made.It"s a matching numbers, Ferrari Classiche-certified car (you want all of that stuff), and when new, it was the only one finished in Girigio Scuro" over a Nero" leather interior. Since repainted and retrimmed, the NART was sold new to Spain, but has lived in the UK since the early 2000s.A quick reminder: the Spider was the brainchild of US Ferrari importer Luigi Chinetti, who thought there was a gap in the market for an open Ferrari more aggressive than the 330GTS. So, he convinced Enzo Ferrari to build him 10 convertible versions of the 275 GTB/4. The resulting cars were christened NART, after Chinetti"s race-winning North American Racing Team.RM sold a NART Spyder for $27.5million ( 19.1m) in 2013. Will this one get anywhere close?
