Some good noises come out of the back of cars. The LaFerrari, any AMG with a cylinder count above six, the Lexus LFA and five-pot Audis, just to name a few. These sweet sonorous sounds are largely due to the engine working in tandem with the exhaust system. But now, in the greatest piece of part sharing since the Audi RS2, Porsche is lending its GT3 exhaust to its licence-to-print-money arm of the business, Porsche Design. Why? To make the coolest speaker in history.Porsche Design has repurposed the GT3"s back box by filling it with tweeters, subs and speakers to make a very expensive Bluetooth speaker.Instead of being connected to the guttural and chuntering race-bred flat-six, it"s coupled to a 3mm jack so you can easily connect your iPod full of engine sounds or Stormzy with ease. If you"re an audiophile, you"ll probably like to hear that the 200-watt, 2.1 system has an LED display mounted in the centre and a Dolby digital decoder for crisp sound. It even comes with a remote so you can control the volume, bass, and switch between the available inputs from the comfort of your sofa. How much? A healthy 2,200. Which, considering that Porsche Design once charged 19,000 for a fountain pen, is a bit of a bargain.
