Mention motorbikes to Clarkson and you’ll get some muttering about Power Rangers and the sound of mosquitos and City boys drinking bitter lemon in his local country pub. Hammond and May are rather more enthusiastic, but for a quiet life they tend to keep the lengthy chats about farings and V-Twins and Triumphs between themselves.
So we don’t often cover bikes on TopGear.com. But we’ll make an exception for this: the newly-announced Hesketh 24. Just look at it…
It’s the first all-new model from the venerable racing brand in 30 years, whose name and former proprietor you may remember from the Rush film. It’s now under new management, and the 24 has been built to celebrate the Hesketh 308 F1 car James Hunt drove to victory in the 1975 Dutch Grand Prix.
To add to the flag-waving excellence, it’s even powered by a 1,950cc V-Twin X-wedge engine tuned by Harris Performance Engines, the same unit that powers the none-more-British Morgan 3-Wheeler (we’ll ignore the fact it’s actually an American engine for now).
Only 24 will be built – and it will make its public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed later this month.
Anyone fancy one?
