Have you ever wanted to own something so exotic that you’d know for a fact you’d join a very special group of owners? Well, if dropping 50 million on a vintage Ferrari is a bit too steep, you may want to consider buying this outrageous GM Futurliner truck!Only 12 GM Futurliners were built between the late thirties and the mid forties, but only a handful of trucks are known to exist. One of them is the vehicle pictured here. This outrageous bus was the idea of Harley Earl to depict what the future of automobile design would look like down the road. Decorated with art deco design, secret front doors, and a center driver’s seat at the very front of the bus, this massive vehicle caught the imagination of children and adults as it tour the country from the late thirties until the mid fifties.A 302 Chevy block originally designed for military duty powered this 8 ft wide, 11 ft tall, and 12 ton monster down the road. Sadly, no EPA ratings are available on this bad boy, so we will never know what kind of fuel-economy it gets. HA.As you can imagine, such a rare vehicle would hardly be available for purchase, and if it were, the price would be outrageous and you’d be right. Mecum has officially listed this truck model on the Monterey auction catalog scheduled for later this month, and it’s already received a valuation of a whopping million dollars. Considering its truck bed is 29 feet long, that’s only about $34,482 bucks per foot.Deal?Chime in with your thoughts on the forum. >> #gallery-2 { margin: auto; } #gallery-2 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-2 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-2 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */ <br style="clear: both" />
