Old Porsches. No matter what age or condition, a used 911 is basically a goldmine. Well, unless it"s a 996-gen car. Anyway, even among the song and dance surrounding the brand at the moment, it"s worth indulging your attention on this car.It"s a 1991 964 Carrera RS, and not just any RS, but one of only 290 N/GT models. These were the super lightweight versions, shorn of everything from lights in the visors to leather on the one-piece bucket seats (they were clad in Nomex instead). The front carpets were replaced with plywood boards, while in went a rollcage, a long range fuel tank, and a plumbed fire extinguisher. It was basically the road version of the Cup racer. 1,220kg of pure 911, pounded along the road by a 256bhp 3.6-litre air cooled flat six. Perfection.This one is car number 76, and has covered only 25,000 miles from new. First registered in December 1991, it spent 20 years in Germany with three owners before taking up a Japanese residency and then coming to the UK. So, a five-owner car in cracking nick throughout and bearing a good wodge of stamps in its service book.How much, do you reckon? Well Silverstone Auctions, who will be selling the car at its Porsche sale on the 15th October, are guiding the car at 135,000- 155,000. Which, going by recent Porsche prices, seems low. So, a chance to bag yourself a bargain. If only we hadn"t told you all about it
