Sure, it’s not Thursday, but this throwback video is too Americana to not talk about right now. Taking us back to 1966, is this television commercial for the high performance Oldsmobile 442. Although the Oldsmobile brand is long gone and the final vehicles under that moniker were anything but performance vehicles, Olds once offered similar performance cars to Chevrolet and Pontiac. The Cutlass and, more specifically, the 442, were among the most formidable foes on the street in the 1960s and 1970s, and today we bring you a look at the 1966 Olds 442.This commercial talks about the key features of the 1966 Oldsmobile 442, including the 400 cubic inch "Rocket" V8 with 4-barrel Quadrajet carburation and a heavy duty suspension system, including unique shocks, springs and front/rear stabilizer bars. Also, while the commercial doesn"t reference the 4-speed manual transmission and the convertible top those were both features which worked with the big engine and heavy duty suspension to put the Oldsmobile 442 on the map.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JmpJ9kG7X8Tags: 442, Oldsmobile, throwback thursday
