While the shortened version has been featured in the past, this is the full 1953 Corvette commercial as Chevrolet intended it.Today"s Throwback Thursday video features the first commercial for the Chevrolet Corvette, which would have played on television way back in 1953. We have watched the most common version of this 1953 Corvette commercial in the past, but that common version is about a minute and a half long. On the other hand, this full-length version of the first C1 Corvette is nearly three and a half minutes. So while the shortened version would have commonly run on television this was likely a Corvette commercial for the big screen.This version of the 1953 Chevrolet Corvette commercial begins with a gentleman standing next to a children"s "soapbox racer" as he explains why everyone loves sports cars. This 20-second segment is not included in the shorter version of the commercial. However, as the camera pans to show the new Corvette, we enter the portion of the commercial which is shared across both versions.The narrator talks about how the 1953 Corvette is the happiest car on the road, and how all of the people involved with the design, engineering and production process had fun when bringing the Corvette to life. He talks about how the company used all of its resources to come up with this great sports car and he talks about all of the ways that the Corvette shines in the sports car world, including the suspension, the engine and the interior.He finishes this segment by proclaiming that "they call her Corvette and she belongs to the highway".At this point, the shorter version of the 1953 Corvette commercial comes to an end, but this longer version continues on with a couple minutes of classic b-roll video, showing a handsome young couple tolling along America"s roads in their beautiful new Chevy sports car.Crank up your speakers and enjoy the full length 1953 Corvette commercial.
