To welcome in the new year, this month we take a look at all the cars that you should be getting excited about in 2014. We kick things off with the technological masterpiece that is the Porsche 918 Spyder - the 875bhp, 214mph, hybrid-hypercar that's set to go battle with the McLaren P1 next year. Porsche gave us exclusive access to the 918, and we only felt it right to send the Stig over to Germany to give it the ultimate shakedown.
From one dream machine to another as we take a first look at the son of the Lamborghini Gallardo, the Huracan. Can it compete with two of the very best supercars in the world, the Ferrari 458 and McLaren 12C? Let's just say we think it'll come out fighting...
For something a little closer to reality, we take a look at the latest incantation of the Ford's iconic Mustang, the 10th incarnation to be precise and coming to the UK for the first time in 50 years.
Next year, the motoring world is already looking very busy with lots of big new releases planned. We take you through the cars that we feel are going to make a big impact, including the Ferrari LaFerrari and new California, BMW i8, Mazda MX-5, Mercedes-Benz GT, Ford Mondeo, Audi TT MQB, Citroen C4 Cactus and McLaren 12C Sprint. Plus direct from China, the new Qoros 3.
In this month's road-test we take three 4x4 SUVs from the posher-end of the market to see if they can actually handle a bit of serious countryside, not just the morning school run. Find out which of the Porsche Cayenne D, Range Rover Sport or BMW X5 xDrive came out on top.
If that wasn't enough we've still found time to bring you some incredible stories from across the globe this month. We travel East to meet a man who likes to light up the darker side of Toyko with his neon-lit Lamborghini Diablo. We popped over to South America to visit Columbia's Festival of Willys.... that's classic jeeps stacked high with coffee beans doing wheelies, of course.
We travel to the Moroccan desert to take part in our own mini Dakar Rally with legendary driver Stephane Peterhansel, before coming home to meet the guys who compete in 2,000bhp road-legal racers. And before leaving the office for a well earned mulled wine and mince pie we even managed to meet comedian Jimmy Carr to take our ‘Driving Test'.
Get all of this, plus the latest news, reviews of all the cars you need to know about and of course, the usual thoughts/ramblings from Clarkson, Hammond and May.
Happy New Year!
