The 6th generation Camaro introduced a new 2.0L turbocharged engine delivering 275 horsepower and 295lb-ft of torque. This small turbocharged engine serves as the base drivetrain for the new Camaro. However, as is the case with pretty much every muscle car, owners are modifying this small, efficient 4-cylinder mill. This Dyno Blast video features a new 2017 Camaro coupe with the base 2.0L turbo engine and the optional manual transmission. This car has been fitted with a freer-flowing intake and exhaust setup, along with an E85 conversion and a tune. At 17-18 pounds of boost, this turbocharged and tuned 2.0L Camaro laid down 287 horsepower at the rear wheels.A stock 2.0T, and manual transmission-equipped Camaro makes around 230 wheel horsepower, depending on the dyno. Figure that the automatic transmission is likely a bit less efficient, so we can use a drivetrain loss ratio of about 20% when calculating the engine output at the crankshaft. With that math a stock, automatic, turbo Camaro would kick out roughly 220 wheel horsepower. That means with 287 wheel horsepower, the modifications to this car added about 67 horsepower at the ground. Finally, when calculating BHP for this Camaro, a 20% drivetrain loss ratio applied to the 287whp figure leads to crankshaft numbers of 359 horsepower an increase of 84bhp.Tags: 2.0T, 6g camaro, 6th Gen Camaro, camaro, Dyno, Dyno Blast, Turbo
