This video comes to us from The Hoonigans YouTube channel and it features one of the most unique Toyota Hilux trucks we have ever seen. This compact pickup is powered by a LS-based GM V8 fitted with a turbocharger and a nitrous setup, and it was driven more than 3,000 miles from the owner"s home in New Hampshire to the Hoonigan Donut Garage in California.Turbo, Nitrous and LS PowerIn the video above, we are introduced to the unique Toyota Hilux and its owner. The owner explains that he installed the stock 5.3-liter LS V8 in the middle of a cross-country road trip, after getting tired of dealing with problems with the original Toyota engine.Just installing an LS-based V8 in this tiny truck would make it pretty stout, but the owner didn"t stop there. He mounted up a huge turbocharger on a custom manifold that sticks up through the hood, and since there is no room for an intercooler, this classic Toyota truck has a 100-shot nitrous setup to help cool the compressed air.To handle all of that boosted Chevy power, the Hilux is fitted with the front and rear suspension, as well as the rear differential from a Ford Crown Victoria with a 3.27 gear set. Finally, the owner made a custom DTM/Group B style widebody kit and while it was his first attempt at this type of project, the body looks pretty damn cool. Most of the kit is tacked-welded together, except for the front splitter, which is held on with a pair of C-clamps.The 3000-Mile Road TripIn addition to introducing us to his 1977 Toyota Hilux, the owner explains why he is at the Hoonigan Donut Garage. Evidently, he was called out to be a part of the $3,000 Hooptie Challenge, so he finished the project or got it roadworthy and headed across the country.Along the way, he stopped by a drag strip and made some low-13-second quarter mile times before heading to meet up with the Hoonigans. Of course, what do you do at the Hoonigan Donut Garage? You do donuts, and that is exactly what he did, making us fall in love with his turbocharged, nitrous-fed, LS-powered Toyota truck.Tags: 5.3 LS V8, ls swaps, Toyota, turbocharged, Video
