Up or down

Remember the dress that sparked a debate on the internet about what colour it was? Well there is another debate going on...........

Is this cat going up the stairs or down the stairs.

No No , the camera is at the top pointing down the stairs and the cat is walking up the stairs......

I say the cat is coming down, and you are looking up the stair. There is a ridge on the stairs going across, and you wouldn't want that ridge to be on the edge you stand on, so it must be on the vertical face therefore cat coming down.

There is a lip on the edge of the stairs that has a shadow underneath it. You would only see that looking up, therefore the cat is coming down.

There could also be another twist to this, what if the cat is walking backwards.....

My thought is down because when cats go down stairs they hold their tails up for balance. When going up stairs the tail is down as balance isn't required
