Renault will soon launch updated versions of the Trafic Passenger and Trafic SpaceClass. Both van-based MPVs will be launched early next year, where they will offer fresh competition for the Volkswagen Caravelle T6 and Ford Tourneo Custom.
Both vans feature a mild exterior redesign, with a new radiator grille, a tweaked bonnet, fresh bumpers and new LED headlights which echo the C-shape design signature used on the Clio hatchback and the Captur crossover.
Buyers of the Passenger variant will get a new set of wheel covers, while the SpaceClass will feature fresh 17-inch alloy wheels. Renault has also announced that both variants will be available in a choice of seven paint colours, including an all-new Carmin Red Metallic finish.
Inside, the pair of van-based MPVs will get an all-new dashboard with new air vents, climate controls and automatic gear selector – all of which will be lifted from the Clio hatchback. Buyers will also get a new eight-inch infotainment screen to replace the old model’s dated seven-inch system, which adds support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The updated Trafic MPVs will receive a host of new driver assistance technology, too, including adaptive cruise control, an active emergency braking system and a blind spot monitoring system. There’s also a new front airbag, which has been redesigned to protect both front passengers in the event of an accident.
Finally, Renault will launch a series of new option packs to complement the updated vans. The firm’s Prestige Pack will add two swivelling captain’s chairs up front, a third row bench seat, a reading light and leather upholstery. Renault’s new Adventurer Pack features similar equipment, but the third seating row can also be folded flat into a bed.
The passenger vans’ engine ranges will be built around Renault’s turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel unit, which will be available in three outputs – 108bhp, 148bhp and 168bhp. The two least powerful engines will be mated to a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, while the flagship model will feature a six-speed dual-clutch automatic.
