the joys of fibre optic. at work the fastest we can get is 16Mb/s, well you can get faster if you go lease line for ?24K per year. However at home it seems virgin do a cracking job at getting fibre almost to your home, we have the green box next to the house, so its a very short run to the house. Running Gigabit network in the house to get these speed, as the WiFi only gets me up to 80Mb/s

Using this test by www.Speedtest.net, you can also find out your speed.

Very chuffed with this speed. Great for downloading stuff, although it does depend how fast the server is you are downloading from.

We are on 60 Mb but right now the speeds are only showing between 20-30 :(. Looks like they've turned ours down - again!

We had huge arguments with them a few years back and whenever it went low we phoned them and lo-and-behold as we were talking to them it went back up and all they said was "doesn't look like any issue here!" Lol!

A friend down the road is paying for up to 60Mb, but he gets just over 30Mb. I think I'm lucky with the location of the green box, that was a selling point for me when I brought the house. lol.
I do find the WiFi that comes with Virgin cant achieve more than 80Mb/s although it could be the Wi-Fi adaptor in the laptop with the limitation. I have to be right near it to get the 80Mb/s. I'm at the table most nights working, so as part of my list of things to plug in, like second monitor 3 usb cables and a network cable its only one extra things to pluggy in to get the faster speed.

They should be able to downgrade your account to what you can get, so your not paying for something to cant achieve.
