Well was out doing some data logging. There was some police down a country lane investigating a car on its roof in the bushes. Although that as quite a serious accident, but no one was hurt, they felt the need to pull me over and chat about my number plates. They said they are not legal, the letters are too small. I said i have some UK ones in the boot. He didn't believe me, so I got them out. He said they are not legal either as they didn't have a label of where they were made. They were actually made at Halfords in 2002. so it would seem if you have number plates on your vehicle which were legal 15 years ago may not be legal now.
He said he will check i have the correct plates on there.
A square number plate wont fit on there without cutting it down, he said you cannot trim the number plate to fit. So if I stick a square number plate on the front that flaps around, that seems to be a way around it. That will be the same for a rear too. I'm sure i read something on the DVLA website some time ago, that if you have an orifice in your bumper for a certain size number plate, then you can fit that size number plate.
