When Mad Mike" Whiddett comes to Britain, he mostly drifts around clusters of mini-roundabouts in Swindon. South Africa doesn"t have many mini-roundabouts, hence Whiddett"s latest video, which features much drifting and precisely zero mini-roundabouts. It"s called Conquer the Cape", and it"s set on South Africa"s Franschhoek Pass a nine-and-a-bit mile mountain pass that ascends 468 metres and normally has a speed limit of between 25 and 60mph. Whiddett hit 154mph in his quite ridiculous-sounding 800-odd bhp Mazda RX-8 quad-rotor drift car, often coming perilously close to a sheer drop into the valley below.
