Late last year, for two days immediately after Wales Rally GB, Hyundai lent us one of their WRC cars. It wasn"t a spare test car, but the car which Dani Sordo had just driven to fourth place overall. This, you don"t need me to tell you, was a bit of a coup. And it came about in a slightly unusual way. You might remember that back in 2014 we built a Hyundai rally car of our own, turning a boggo road-going i20 into a machine capable of tackling Wales Rally GB. Just before the start of that year"s event, I was having a natter with the WRC team, comparing and contrasting our cars, and thought I"d ask if there was any chance of driving their WRC car at some stage. The answer was no. But it wasn"t flat no there was a wager. If I won my class, they"d let me drive their car. Their car should have been safe, but somehow we managed to win our class, so Hyundai, as good as their word, said that if we came back to Wales Rally GB in 2015, we could have the car to do with as we pleased for two days afterwards. So we made this film. It"s a bit of fun, and if you want to know more about what we got up to with the car, we"ll be running the full feature from the magazine in the next few days.Pick up the March issue of Top Gear magazine from your local newsagent and supermarket, or download it on your device. Available until Tuesday 23rd Feb.
